Dumbryden Silver Swans move to Hailesland Primary School. As Dumbryden Primary School was planning to close down at the end of the summer and there was already a drift of members of the Silver Sawns to other local schools it was decided to start meeting at Hailesland primary school on Wednesadys. The Silver Swans group celebrate getting a grant from the Wester Hailes Land and Property Trust of £1300 for tents and outdoor activities.
Edinburgh Woodcraft AGM was held just before the ceilidh on the 5th February. Thanks to all who contributed to the Ceildh which againproved to be a major fund rasier. Part of the entertainment this evening was the workshop provided by Jubilee Scotland to highlight the Make Poverty History campaign which we are both involved with..
A break to tradition was the chosen venue for the District Hostel weekend. This year Comrie Bunkhouse was used, which proved to be a suitable alternative to the usual break in Aberfeldy.
The Southside Pioneers and some parents went to Towford on the first weekend in May.
Edinburgh Woodcraft Annual May Camp
In another break from tradition the annual Victoria weekend camp was held on a Forestry commission campsite in the Trossachs. Apparently it was unbeleivebaly Midgy!
A BBQ for all the groups is to be held at Yellowcraigs on the 25th June. Please let your group coorinators know whether you are going and/or require a lift.
Edinburgh Woodcraft get a grant from the Scottish Executive Susatianble Action fund. This shall be used to design a renewable energy trailer as a demonstration of the groups involvement and conviction towards a sustainable future for all. Check out and this.
Edinburgh Venturers get a gant of £500 towards their running costs of delivering Trade Justice Workshops and involvement in the Make Poverty History Campaign.
Edinburgh Woodcraft are heavily involved in Woodcraft Folk Scotland's plans to provide young peoples entertainment on the Meadows on July 2nd. So far £2000 has been raised to provide a Marquee with banner making before the rally and ceilidh dancing after the rally. It should be fun so please feel free to come and join us on the north side of the Meadows on July the 2nd from 10 a.m.
